Introducing the Realm Guardians Program and Fair Play Updates

Realmers,

We’ve started the pilot for the Realm Guardians Program.

We know cheating has been a pain point for a long time. This pilot is one of the steps we’re taking to make reports easier to act on, with a consistent review process behind it.

Realm Guardians are selected community members helping with in-game moderation support. Their role has boundaries, and they cannot directly ban players.

They’ve been helping bring cases to our attention with useful details, and our team investigates from there.

The pilot started a few days after the ToS Pop-Up update on May 15th, 2026. Since then, we’ve banned 470 accounts.

The Realm Guardians Program is still a small pilot, so we’re taking it carefully and keeping a close eye on how it works in practice. This includes reviewing how useful the reports are, what may need to change, how the program could evolve, and whether it’s the right fit for the Realm on the long run.

We also want to clarify a couple of points:

Sniffers are okay for now.

At the moment, we haven't seen an unfair advantage for players using them. We’ll continue evaluating this over time, and if that changes, we’ll let you know.

Playing through third-party methods is not allowed.

Accessing or playing Realm outside of our official launcher or Steam is not allowed. Please make sure you’re playing through the official RotMG Launcher.

We’re also working on improving our detection tools and processes. There is still a lot of work to do internally.

We hope this becomes a positive step for the game and for our players who want a fairer Realm.

Thanks for caring about the Realm and helping us make it better!
